A regenerative economy and AI safety lab

AGI is here. AI is the Audit.

Grow out of what we inherited. Reimagine what abundance should unlock. #ReGrowth, with AGI, safely and regeneratively.#ReGrowth: clear off the Conway Debts of the past, and reimagine what abundance should unlock. With AGI, safely and regeneratively.

We turn frontier AI into tools you can run and own: domain harnesses and malleable software, released as a Techno-Memetic Commons.

Accelerate or degrow, e/acc or EA, capitalism or Marxism: the debate swings between two ends that often meet. The question underneath goes unasked.Accelerate or degrow. e/acc or EA. Capitalism or Marxism. Flawed dichotomies: #ReGrowth looks beyond them. When intelligence gets cheaper, what was the expensive part?

Conway Debt

The skeuomorphic hangover of past decisions, organisational topologies and techno-memetic ontologies.

A debt you keep paying interest on without remembering why you took it.

  1. Goodhart’s Law Make a measure the target, and it stops measuring.
  2. Seeing Like a State The state sees only what it has made legible, and erases the rest.
  3. Bullshit Jobs Work that the people doing it privately judge to be pointless.
  4. Counterproductivity Past a threshold, institutions produce the inverse of their stated purpose.
  5. Fictitious Commodities Labour, land and money: none of them was produced for sale.
  6. Enshittification How platforms decay: good to users, then to business, then to shareholders, then dead.
  7. Commons Governance The counter-example, what holds: Ostrom’s eight design principles for commons that last.

The drawing: the mandala unrolls into one tape of two strips, running left to right through a window of three rooms, the Policy Lab, the Venture Lab and the Community Lab. Below is Piṇḍa: the Research Lab and the development desks. Above is Brahmāṇḍa: as the tape runs, each step writes an action into it, explore, incubate, consult or roll up (roll-ups come later), and small lotuses rise out of Piṇḍa into it, a few of them named, each coming soon: Intercamp and bisz.in. A yellow cord runs through the Venture Lab, from a yellow square at the tape's foot to a yellow arrowhead at its top, pointing up. Technopoly is written up its left edge and memetics down its right. The title block reads Kośa, ReGrowth Studio.

As in the model, so in the studio.

The same three squares become three labs, Policy, Venture and Community, fed by a Research Lab that explores.

The drawing: every living cell on the plane grows a stalk and a lotus as the plane tilts (in the plate reading the tape has first grown until it fills the screen, its window open), and the ⊥ rises out of the hub as the stem, its cap opening into a yellow lotus. Then the view rises over the water: from above every lotus is a rosette on paper, the mesh is gone, and where the window stood its three labs are three pools of open water, ringed. Yours, in yellow, sits in the middle one, the Venture Lab's, where the ⊥ stood. It is the door into the pond.

The drawing: the plate turns back down to the first plate's view, edge on, and the line between the poles is the water line, accelerate at its left end and degrow at its right, over the mud of the Conway Debt trail. The ⊥ is the stem, Regrow set up it, its cap opened into a yellow lotus: the door into the pond. Every living cell on the plane stands above the water on a stalk, a lotus that lives as long as its cell.

The drawing: the tape widens into the whole plane as the view turns from above to the front. On some of the tape's living cells a lotus grows on its stalk over the water line, in line art: the nearest in ink, the farther in grey. Behind them, smaller yellow lotuses carry the studio's pages by name: Theory of ReGrowth, ReGrowth Rhythms, ReGrowth Café, Labs and Glossary. The ⊥ rises out of the hub as the stem, Regrow set up it, and opens into the largest lotus, in yellow: yours, with Bloom your own · see the preview written over it.

Plainly.

What is ReGrowth Studio?

A regenerative economy and AI safety lab: three labs, Policy, Venture and Community, fed by a Research Lab that explores.

What is Theory of ReGrowth?

The ideas behind the studio, written in public: ReGrowth Rhythms, a live book of mini essays, with minisodes of 7–14 minutes on YouTube in the making. Everything is public.

Is Bloom your own open?

Coming soon. The preview is open now, free and with no account; it stays in your browser, and nothing is sent to us.

What is the difference between a Rhythm Resident and a ReGrowth Fellow?

Two levels of effort. A Rhythm Resident belongs: a regular at the ReGrowth Café, which will meet once its first Residents are confirmed. A ReGrowth Fellow builds: a scoped mission or a half-time seat, with no terms or commitments yet, and never pays a fee.

Is anything charged here?

No. Every sign-up opens an email draft in your own app; this site sends and stores nothing. We confirm your seat, the start date and the full terms before anyone pays.
